The main difference between LRTM and infusion is the instrumentation applied. The vacuum sack is replaced with a light mould made of FRP equipped with rubber seals. Such mould shapes the element (smooth on both sides). It takes a couple of minutes to close the mould - thus, the costs of work are substantially reduced and keep the consumption of materials to minimum (foil, sealing tapes, injection connectors).

The mould for LRTM basically consists of two parts:

Bottom – matrix (pic 1. pic. 2), and upper – stamp (pic 1. pos. 1). The side edge of a mould is a special flange with rubber seals mounted (pic. 2). The outer seal (pic. 2 pos. 3) along with a dynamic seal (pic. 2 pos. 4) divide the mould into two zones. The first zone is between the outer and dynamic seals.

The negative pressure generated by vacuum pump facilitates the closing of a mould and prevents it from premature opening. Moreover, it ensures  leaktightness of the second zone which is inside the mould. The negative pressure in the first zone is lower than in the second zone and depends on the reinforcement material, complexity of the mould, type of resin distribution (mechanical or manual). During the process, the resin is injected (pic. 1 pos. 4), distributed through a canal (pic. 2 pos. 5.) and collected (pic. 1 pos. 3.). In order to protect the pump against resin getting inside the vacuum system, a so-called resin trap is used.
