Kåre Frang is a Danish artist creating large-scale art installations for public exhibition. The project called for a giant music box sculpture — a one-of-a-kind public artwork with no precedent, no technical drawings, and no starting point other than a 3D digital model.
This was not a standard industrial project with ready documentation and fixed dimensions. The starting point was an artistic vision in digital form — one that had to be translated into real, physical parts with organic, irregular geometry. On top of that came a question nobody had answered yet: how would everything fit together and hold its shape as a complete, stable structure?
Wentech analysed the 3D model and extracted everything needed for production. We then manufactured the composite parts — umbrella, covers and wheels — adapting process parameters to the non-standard geometries involved. In parallel, we developed the connection method and full assembly concept for the structure.
The parts were delivered on site and became part of the completed art installation, exhibited publicly.
